Review:
I saw an early screening of The Bling Ring and I must say that my expectations are not met, in fact, the film does not even come close to meeting them. When I heard that Emma Watson was going to be a movie about a group of teenagers rob rich celebrities have to say that I was intrigued. Add on top of that the fact that Sofia Coppola is the director, also did the excellent Lost in Translation, and I was guaranteed a place to see it in theaters.The film is based on the true story of a group of adolescents who have lived in or around Calabasas, California. Somewhere, in the period from October 2008 to August 2009, the group, called the Bling Ring, stole approximately $ 3,000,000 in cash and assets of celebrities including Paris Hilton, Orlando Bloom and Lindsay Lohan.It is a story fascinating and one that sounds like a great setup for a film, but the execution is terribly boring. If you watched the trailer for the film looks like it is a crazy mashup of scenes from the party and what the majority of people are waiting for Emma Watson and her friends rob celebrities left and right. These scenes are in the film, but in the film are not exciting or crazy in any way. It steals the scenes all start with the group of celebrities to the home search on the internet and then find out if they are out of town or not. So just continue to drive up to the house, get out, walk down the driveway, walk around the house trying to open the doors and then when they find an unlocked just walk right into the house. The filming is so lazy and simple that these scenes are as exciting as watching your neighbor to unlock his door and go inside after coming home from work. Then the real parts rob are just picking up the group of celebrities valuables and therefore constantly say Oh my god this looks hot! Repeat this for 20 times and have the first three quarters of the total movie.The characters in the film are based on current teenagers, but their names have been changed. Unlike the film's sales marketing Emma Watson as the main character is not actually the leader of the group. Instead it is a girl named Rebecca played by Katie Chang. The film is about Rebecca and her best friend played by Marc Broussard Israel. Their acting is average and their interactions are so boring that it is difficult to take care of them. In fact, it is only above average performance in the film, Emma Watson and surprisingly she plays only a small role in the film until the end of movie.Altogether'm not sure that The Bling Ring is made for. The target appeared to be teenagers, but with an R-rating the majority of the public is not able to pay to see it. But it can not be for this group, since the film tries to be artistic. So hard at the same time Case in point one of the scenes of robbery is a continuous record of the outside of a house, while the characters are racing around it for four minutes. So the film is for teenagers with short attention span, too slow, but it is not easily recognizable or smart enough for anyone aged 20 or older. Emma Watson and for those fans who are disappointed because they are not even on the screen for much of the movie.The Bling Ring is a missed opportunity as an exciting heist film teenager could have been, but is instead prepared a film that tries to be artistic and drags on for too long. If you must see to rent it on DVD, but otherwise not miss anything.
