Review:
When I first walked into the movie, my expectations were not very high. The first two films, I think it is the best series primarily because Richard Harris dead-on description of Dumbledore and the scenarios that follow the original story. While the third and fourth movies were very artistic and dramatic, I can not really relate to them including; Bilateral how I got the book. They polished many little things that make the Harry Potter series so appealing in the first place, focusing on a few select plots and limit the window only what is necessary to strengthen the story. That is why they have felt more like a collage of scenes, a series of puzzle pieces, discarded audience faster than they can accumulate, leading to the sole, final confrontation. Pacing is a problem, so fans feel disjointed and those new to the series confused about what actually happened. In this case, a series of Phoenix is very similar to the previous two films. Like a Hollywood movie, worthy of praise, bringing this extraordinary world to the big screen, tells an interesting story, and keep the viewers glued to the sea, their seats during the movie. While die hard fans of the book, you may be disappointed. Many scenes that one would think is very valuable to the story has been cut, replaced hastily filling in plot holes. And while it pains me to overlook some of my favorite scenes from the book were left on the cutting room floor (St Mungo Harry quibble interview, battle Quidditch, etc.), I realized that yes, not everything can be included in the film. But the watered down version of the book, there seems to be something missing. We still have all the drama and tension, but some of the magic seems to disappear. Besides Evans (could not have done a more perfect Luna), give the kids a show just average, never really achieve the full potential presented by JK Rowling wrote. The same goes for Gambon, who seems to have ignored quietly, everyone knows, Dumbledore charming idea is to support principals more erratic but powerful. Sure, it works well in the more dramatic scenes (particularly the final battle), but if not, his performance falls flat, lacking eyes twinkling charm we've come to, love of the late Richard Harris. Fortunately, Imelda Staunton is more than made up for it in amazing description of Dolores Umbridge, a fuller character in the film. As for the rest of the cast, the most hit or miss, depending on how each scene is written. Overall, I would definitely recommend the movie for anyone, fan or not, because it's really well made movie, desires, although some wooden acting and bad dialogue. But when you look at the books, in fact, could not help but think how much more potential this movie couldve had.
